DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE TREATMENT
Deep Tissue Massage & Trigger Point Therapy
Deep Tissue Massage addresses the deepest layers of muscle tissue, fascia & tendons to release chronic muscle tension through direct deep pressure, cross fibre friction with the use of forearms & deep finger pressure on contracted tissues. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on specific areas and may cause some soreness during and after the massage for a couple of days.
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning the deeper layers of muscles & connective tissues. It is especially helpful for chronic muscular aches & pains; muscles in spasm such as a stiff neck & upper back; low back pain, muscle tightness, sore shoulders. The technique of deep tissue is the movement is slower with the pressure which is deeper. It is also concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the deeper muscles and fascia.
Trigger point therapy consists of alternating levels of concentrated pressure on areas of muscle spasm and adhesions. Pressure is applied through fingers, thumbs, knuckles and elbow. This pressure is applied for 30-second intervals to effectively alleviate the muscle spasms. This technique works by relaxing the muscle in order to release stored lactic acid & encourage blood & oxygen circulation to the muscle to avoid further production of lactic acid. Trigger point therapy typically produces initial soreness which is ‘good pain’ within the muscle tissue.
