COVID-19 SECURE

Welcome to staying Covid-19 Secure.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy

For Cotswold Sports & Beauty Therapy.

This policy has been created to carry out treatments safely and in line with government guidelines. These will be updated according to the government guidelines.

Cotswold Sports & Beauty Therapy is currently closed.

All of us have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. I have missed all of my wonderful clients and I am looking forward to being able to carry out your treatments safely again.

I have missed being able to offer you the treatments that I know you love, need, and I am looking forward to seeing you again as soon as possible.

My priority is to keep you as safe as possible, and prior to re-opening my treatment room, I have implemented a number of changes that I would like to make you aware of. During the time the treatment room has been shut, I have completed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control course which is accredited by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd, the UK trade body for our industry. I have also completed the Barbicide Certified Course and Barbicide Covid-19 Certification for the Professional Beauty Industry Training for beauty treatments to be carried out. This is training and understanding of proper sanitisation and disinfection practices and procedures consistent with the current highest industry standards. I have also completed the Coronavirus Clinical Safety Course; Safe use of PPE which are accredited by the International School of Aesthetics and is recognised in the UK. Completion of Standard Precautions: Environmental Cleaning and Disinfection; Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for Novel Coronavirus; and Covid-19 How to put on and remove personal protective equipment (PPE) all through the World Health Organisation. An introduction to Infection Prevention and Control by Virtual College. Dermalogica Clean Touch Certified. Completed Control of Cross-Infection in a Post-Covid-19 World Qualification through Jennifer Young. Completed Health and Safety, Coronavirus (Covid-19) & Back to Work Plan; and PPE Complete guide to Personal Protective Equipment through Monroe Beauty.

I have since made a number of changes in the way that I can operate that you will notice when you next visit.

Booking Appointments

If I feel ill or have symptoms of Covid-19, I will self-isolate immediately and not come into the treatment room. This may mean that I have to cancel your appointment at short notice. I appreciate that this may be inconvenient but it is done entirely for your own safety. If your appointment is cancelled you will be able to re-book again or ask for a full refund/voucher.

If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of C0VlD-19 – please advise me as soon as possible and DO NOT COME TO THE TREATMENT ROOM FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. We will reschedule your appointment for another time.

Visiting the Treatment Room

For your safety and to maintain social distancing, I ask that you attend your appointments as close to the appointment time as possible. Please do not turn up early for appointments as this may mean that you come into contact with other clients who are just leaving. It will also help me to clean in between each client. Upon arrival, I will ask you to complete a health check. This will be me taking your temperature and also checking your oxygen and pulse. This doesn’t take long to do and is not painful. I will then record information securely. If you are good, I will take you through and carry out your treatment.

I have increased the frequency of cleaning in the treatment room and communal areas including making sure that common surfaces, door handles, chairs, toilets, massage couch etc. are wiped clean using disinfectant products between each client.

Although minimal equipment is used, all equipment and surfaces will be disinfected in between clients for your safety. All tools and equipment will be disinfected or sterilised in line with the specific manufacturers’ instructions for your safety.

As always, all towels will be changed after each and every client. I will also be using couch roll on top of the towels and this will also be disposed of after each and every client. Before any treatment commences, I will sanitise/disinfect areas that are going to be massaged. Unfortunately, this will be a fresh sensation, and then I will carry out the massage.

Wherever possible I will utilise environmentally, friendly, single-use items during a treatment that will be disposed of safely after use in order to protect you from cross infection such as couch roll.

You will have access to soap and hot water to wash your hands with as soon as you enter the treatment room. You can wash your hands in my little nail room or I have hand sanitiser available for you to use when you come into the treatment room.

I will understand and not be offended if you wish to wear a facemask or wear disposable gloves when you visit for your massage and during your treatment if this is appropriate.

Please don’t be surprised or upset if I use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during your visit and during your treatment. This may include disposable gloves/facemasks/visors/aprons where appropriate. This is to protect you as well as myself.

I can confirm that the laundering of towels and uniforms is a priority I can assure you that all laundry is washed at 60 degrees C.

All disposable items are bagged and safely removed from the treatment area between each client.

My treatments

I have carried out a risk assessment on all treatments and I am confident that I can continue to provide all massage therapy treatments safely when I can reopen. Unfortunately, beauty treatments are on hold. I will re-evaluate & carry out another risk assessment when it is safe to reopen. in line with the government guidelines of Covid-19.

During your treatment

I understand the importance of hand hygiene and I will ensure that I wash my hands in accordance with NHS recommendations before the start of your treatment.

I will try to make your treatment as safe, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you have any concerns about your treatments please let me know and I will do what I can to satisfy you.

After the treatment

After treatment, I will again wash my hands in accordance with the NHS recommendations. All towels and couch roll will be removed and all surfaces will be disinfected.

In order to avoid handling cash, I would prefer if you could pay for your treatment in advance by bank transfers. If this is not possible, cash will be accepted as I don’t have a card machine.

All of these procedures have been implemented for your safety as well as mine. I will continue to take advice from the Government and the NHS regarding safe practice and will amend them as necessary.

Thank you for your understanding.

Laura Scott
